Participating at the 9th World POPS Meet and Championships

Following an approach to the APF for assistance towards the  9th World POPS Meet & Championships 2008, POPS Australia wrote to all APF Area Councils asking for consideration of financial support for eligible jumpers and volunteers attending this event.

 

All funds made available would go to eligible jumpers and volunteers only; this was not a request for funding for POPS Australia.

 

Area Councils who have said they will support jumpers and volunteers participating at the event, and meeting certain criteria, are:

  • Victoria/Tasmania - see below

  • New South Wales - see below

  • ACT - see below

  • South Queensland

  • North Queensland

  • Northern Territory

                The Victoria Parachute Council has issued a notice stating they are keen to financially support  jumpers in Victoria & Tasmania

                    who are already, or who are eligible to become, POPS Members, and eligible volunteers, who are participating in next year's world meet.

The 9th World POPS Meet and Championships will be held at Toogoolawah 25th April to 3rd May next year. The Victorian Parachute Council has allocated the sum of $3,000 to assist competitors and approved volunteers with their travel and jump costs. This money will be divided equally amongst those who meet the criteria:

1. Must be a member of POPS Australia

2. Must be nominated to the APF as a member of a VPC member organisation

3. Must correctly enter and register for the meet and confirm this with the VPC chair at least one month before the start of the meet.

4. At the conclusion of the meet, after confirming attendance and participation with the meet director, the appropriate amount of money will be paid.

 Volunteers are also required and may qualify for funding. Volunteers who qualify do not need to be a member of POPS to gain funding. People who are considering volunteering should contact info@ozworldpops2008.com in the first instance.

                The NSW Parachute Council has issued the following notice to members of POPS in NSW:

 

                    The 9th World POPS Meet and Championships will be held at Toogoolawah 25th April to 3rd May next year. The NSW Council of the APF has allocated the

                    sum of  $3,000 with a maximum of $200 per person to assist competitors with their costs. This money will be divided equally amongst those who meet the criteria:

                            1. Must be a member of POPS for at least one month before the meet.

                            2. Must be nominated to the APF as a member of a NSW member organisation

                3. Must correctly enter and register for the meet and confirm this fact with the NSW secretary at least one month before the start of the meet. (By 25.03.08)

                4. Must compete in at least two events at the Championships.

                5. At the conclusion of the meet, after confirming attendance and participation with the meet director, the appropriate amount of money will be paid.

                     The Council has also allocated $2000 for volunteers with a maximum of $200 per person. This money will be divided equally amongst those who meet

                     the following criteria.

                    1. Reside in NSW

                    2. Approved by POPs and Toogoolawah meet management.

                    3. Refund basis.

                    Volunteers who qualify for funding do not need to be a member of POPS or the APF to gain funding.

                The ACT Parachute Council has advised they fully support POPS Australia's efforts in holding the meet in Australia and have agreed to provide

                    up to $1,000 to be shared between APF members affiliated with ACT Clubs who wish to attend as participants or as volunteers at this meet.  Neil Fergie

                    will promote the availability of this funding and manage its distribution amongst eligible people.
